Cairns Australia Marlin Fishing Charters

On the Great Barrier Reef in a stretch of water between Lizard Island & Cairns famously known as the Ribbon Reefs. Every year¬†giant black marlin come here to breed from September through to December. More¬†GRANDERS 1000lb+¬†black marlin are caught here more than anywhere else in the world making these reefs a predominate¬†BIG MARLIN¬†factory! This sets the scene for one the worlds most incredible big game fisheries & home to Australia’s giant black marlin charters.

Also found here are sailfish around the reefs edges & blue marlin a little further offshore. Aside from the marlin fishing there’s a a great opportunity of luring excellent by catch¬†including fish species¬†such as wahoo, yellow fin tuna, spanish mackeral & mahi mahi.

Our choice of tackle are the Shimano Tiagra 130’s that are maintained to a high quality standard to maximise your chance of catching that fish of a lifetime! In the mornings of giant black marlin fishing charters, it’s ideal to enjoy a relaxing snorkel amongst the many fringing reefs & explore the abundant marine life in them or continue fishing for tasty table fish such as coral trout.

your chances of fishing and a full outer reef experience you will never forget!

Giant black marlin fishing charters are only available during October and November. 

* Light tackle marlin fishing charters are available in the Whitsundays December – September.

Your Cairns giant black marlin charter may start like this...

Waking up behind the calmness of the reef &¬†being greeted by one the 7th¬†wonders of the World.....the Great Barrier Reef. You may decide to go for a relaxing snorkel¬†through the underwater garden or pick up a fishing rod and catch more¬†tasty table fish such as a coral trout.‚Äč

Back onboard after a snorkel you will be treated to a hearty breakfast to get you ready to go tangle with some of the brutes of the reef like legendary giant trevally. Later in the day light tackle rods come out to catch fresh bait for of the day and then it’s time to go catch that fish of a lifetime......the giant black marlin (Istiompax Indica)

After the days expedition is complete, its time to go back in behind the reef for a sheltered anchorage and relax with a few cold beverages to watch GoPro videos of the day’s events. The fishing doesn't stop either and continues while on anchor for some more delicious table fish that the reef system has to offer.
